What’s the terrain like?
According to Strava, the 4 Abbeys is a moderate cycle route. You’ll mainly spend your time on peaceful, undulating roads, but there are a couple of steep climbs and some unavoidable A roads to bear in mind. This is all worth it as you slice through scenic valleys and soak up the breathtaking views of the famous Eildon Hills. The route is broken into segments, with pit stops at various Borders’ Towns, giving you plenty of opportunities for refreshment along the way. The route is normally done in a clockwise direction.
